Depression Prevention Theories

There is no possible way to prevent depression until finding what chemical changes are produced exactly. It is believed that some people have a slight tendency to depression but it will never be found out exactly what are the causes for one's depression until they will be studied, thus, we can't say depression can be prevented.

Are there methods to prevent depression?

The way we think:

It is known that people experiencing the same event will have different reaction and some of them may suffer from depression while others won't. It is all about the way we see things, the attitude and the way we think things. This is what affects our feelings.

The balance theory for preventing depression:

Depression disappears on its own after a while regardless the fact that it is treated or not. Some factors will make it go away but if the experiences that caused it are repeated, it will relapse.

The state-dependent theory for preventing depression:

The state dependent memory is the process that causes remembering an incident through the feelings it generated in us. This is not and objective process therefore one should try to allow himself the chance to be more positive towards things around him and even in the worst situations because it will feel a lot better.

The acceptance theory for preventing depression:

People can control their own thoughts and actions. This is a process that involves only the person in question and no one else. We cannot control other people around us. They have the same power as we do so we have to accept everybody's free will.
